My art
“Discarded equipment, old tools, machinery parts that are worn down from generations of labor, are tossed into piles of junk. These weathered heaps of “scrap iron” are being “recycled” into Peg’s Metal Art. With an imaginative mind they become “Products of a vision”. Its new identity is seen through my eyes.”

” My sculptures are a combination of Love and Gratitude. Love of animals and nature. Gratitude for growing up on a farm, raised riding horses through the wheat fields, a life lived in barns, pastures, trucks and tractors. A life in itself which instills creativeness, imagination, determination and respect for all living things. There is a point at which my creation seems to come alive. That’s when I feel I have created something special.”

“As a little girl I remember going through scrap piles wondering what could be made with the found parts. My dad would tease and tell me I had a screw loose. At the age of 15 I started thinking how cool it would be to make artistic furniture out of pieces and parts from old rusting cars with big fancy grills. Now, as an adult, am still pleasantly haunted by the same vision every time I go back to the farm and look at the weathering old cars with the big grills.
Maybe a new life still awaits them.”

“The welding and creating began 30+ years ago when , a single mom, I decided to teach my son, Jake Bertelsen, (currently re-nowned as one of the best Tattoo Artists), how to weld. It was something we could do together and make some extra money selling our creations. “
